The origins of modern science is based on a Christian worldview.
An orderly universe makes perfect sense if it was made by an orderly Creator. But if there is no creator, or if Zeus and his gang were in charge, why should there be any order at all? Loren Eiseley stated (Loren Eiseley: Darwin’s Century: Evolution and the Men who Discovered It, Doubleday, Anchor, New York (1961):
“The philosophy of experimental science. . .began its discoveries and made use of its methods in the faith, not the knowledge, that it was dealing with a rational universe controlled by a creator who did not act upon whim nor interfere with the forces He had set in operation. . . It is surely one of the curious paradoxes of history that science, which professionally has little to do with faith, owes its origins to an act of faith that the universe can be rationally interpreted, and that science today is sustained by that assumption.”Most branches of modern science were founded by believers in creation.
The list of creationist scientists is impressive. A sample:
* Physics: Newton, Faraday, Maxwell, Kelvin
* Chemistry: Boyle, Dalton, Ramsay
* Biology: Ray, Linnaeus, Mendel, Pasteur, Virchow, Agassiz
* Geology: Steno, Woodward, Brewster, Buckland, Cuvier
* Astronomy: Copernicus, Galileo, Kepler, Herschel, Maunder
* Mathematics: Pascal, Leibnitz
The Cosmos show is presenting a false story about the history of science. This has been well documented in many places, including:
Enough history…on to some science

Who says there are no creationist scientists?
Dr. Jeffrey Tomkins – Yet another real scientist who is a creationist.
Jeff Tomkins has a Ph.D. in Genetics from Clemson University, an M.S. in from the University of Idaho, and a B.S. from Washington State University. He was on the Faculty in the Dept of Genetics and Biochemistry, Clemson University, for a decade, where he published 57 secular research papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and seven book chapters in the area of genetics, genomics, proteomics, and physiology. For the past four years, Dr Tomkins has been a Research Scientist at the Institute for Creation Research and an independent investigator publishing ten peer-reviewed creation science journal papers, numerous semi-technical articles, and two books.
Dr. Tomkins’ recent article Cells’ Molecular Motor Diversity Confounds Evolution demonstrates once again the evidence for design in life.
In particular note that evolutionists must try to convince themselves that intricately complex micro machines didn’t just evolve once by unguided changes, but this happened multiple times…sometimes with the identical result. The observational data is that these micro machines exist within various creatures. There is no observational data that in some cases its due to inheritance from a common ancestor, while in other cases its due to ‘convergent evolution.’ These are not observations, but conclusions driven by a materialist view of the world.
From the perspective of a software engineer (me): The presence of identical genes in various creatures is evidence that these genes are reusable subroutines and are ‘linked in’ to any creature that requires their function. The linker is smart enough to leave out unused subroutines to save space. We’ve been building software programs this way for decades. Oh, by the way, every program we ever seen had a programmer…
