Meaningless world or creation of God?

Do we live in a meaningless world that just happened to occur, or are we the creations of God?

Which of these views is correct:

Our planet is a lonely speck in the great enveloping cosmic dark. In our obscurity, in all this vastness, there is no hint that help will come from elsewhere to save us from ourselves. (Carl Sagan, Pale Blue Dot: A Vision of the Human Future in Space)

or

The heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of his hands. (Psalm 19:1)

Is it true that You are a Fluke of the Universe?

On and earlier show we concluded by discussing the enormous problems in formulating a materialistic theory for the origin of life, and that such scientists as Dean Kenyon, Emeritus Professor of Biology San Francisco State University and author of the textbook Biochemical Predestination, had come to doubt even the possibility based upon what we’re learning in genetics and cellular biology. Way back in 1984, he wrote the intro to the great book The Mystery of Life’s Origin.

After discussing other issues, he mentioned the need for molecules with specified “handedness”, ie the need for left handed amino acids, for example [see our Sept 4 show for more on this], he wrote:

After all the prodigious effort that has gone into attempts to solve this great question over the years, we are really no nearer to a solution today than we were thirty years ago.

Then he concluded by discussing the need for the proper type of information

“Finally, in this brief summary of the reasons for my growing doubts that life on earth could have begun spontaneously by purely chemical and physical means, there is the problem of the origin of genetic, i-e,, biologically relevant, information in biopolymers. No experimental system yet devised has provided the slightest clue as to how biologically meaningful sequences of subunits might have originated in prebiotic polynucleotides orpolypeptides. Evidence for some degree of spontaneous sequence ordering has been published, but there is no indication whatsoever that the non-randomness is biologically significant. Until such evidence is forthcoming one certainly cannot claim that the possibility of a naturalistic origin of life has been demonstrated.”

The increasing knowledge of the type of information content within a cell, not just the DNA, but also elsewhere within the cell, some of which we have yet to begin to locate, is a compelling argument for the existence of an intelligent source for this info.

Examine carefully what happened to Antony Flew, “the world’s most notorious atheist”, as he paid attention to what we continue to learn in science.
